Children’s Dance Theater is the proud home of the award-winning Thrive Competition Team! Started in 2014, our dance team is a space for artistry, competition, performance, and teamwork. Our goal is to provide a place for everyone to experience this unique and rewarding side of dance where each dancer will thrive!

Ages 6-8 years

Joining Team
Here at Children’s Dance Theater we promote a healthy approach physically and mentally to dance education and training with the hopes of instilling joy and self worth. Our competition team is fun and challenging for dancers who want to have multiple performance opportunities, and experience the camaraderie of working with a team! Our dance team thrives on inclusive and appropriate costumes, award winning choreography and a supportive booster club.
Thrive is open to all dancers who are enrolled at CDT. With two teams there is a place for everyone and every level.
The Debut Team
The Debut Team a great place for dancers to begin their competitive journey. There are no prior requirements to join this team and have room to evolve as your training grows. The Debut team has less time and financial commitment involved. This team is not selective and is guaranteed placement.
The Elite Team
The Elite Team is for dancers with at least one year of competitive training experience and are ready for a challenge in artistry and skill level. This team has a larger financial and time commitment, you must study in the conservatory program of CDT to be eligible. The Elite Team is selective, with no guarantee on placement.
Competitions
Thrive has an average of four competitions each year with the options of a Nationals, travel or extra competitions, rotating each season. All rehearsals take place on Wednesday nights at the Auburn location. Competitions could start January and go until May. Thrive runs on a three year schedule, a travel year, a no travel year, and a nationals year.
